Birthday Gifts for a Man Who Has Everything
The best birthday gift for a man who has everything: a solid .999 fine silver statue, hand-poured to order. Count back 8 weeks, or give the gift card.
The best birthday gift for a man who has everything is one he couldn’t have bought for himself last Tuesday, because last Tuesday it didn’t exist. A statue hand-poured in solid .999 fine silver works that way. It gets made after you order it, and it will still be on his shelf when the next round number comes up.
The only hard part is the calendar. Every statue takes 4–8 weeks to make, so count back eight weeks from his birthday and order before that day. Closer than that? Give the gift card and let him pick.
The short version
- Count back eight weeks from his birthday. Every statue is made to order and takes 4–8 weeks.
- Inside that window, give the gift card (from $199) and let him choose the design and size.
- For a 40th, 50th or 60th, start at 3 oz ($450). The 1 oz is a desk accent, and a milestone wants more metal.
- A custom statue from his photo starts at $900 and is cast once, then retired forever.
Why a birthday is harder than Christmas
Christmas comes with cover. A sweater can hide in the pile. A birthday gift gets opened alone, with everyone watching, by a man who bought whatever he wanted the week he wanted it.
Then there are the big ones. A 40th. A 50th. A 60th. Those are the birthdays people bring up at the next one, and another bottle of scotch on a 50th looks a lot like you remembered on Thursday.
So the gift has to pass two tests. He’d never have ordered it himself. And it should outlast the party by a few decades.
Solid silver passes both. It holds real value, so it never turns into junk. Ours is poured by a family workshop in South Florida that has been at it since 2004, in one grade only: .999 fine silver, X-ray tested for purity and weight before it ships. Each piece comes in a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity carrying its own serial number. The weight and purity are stamped into the metal, and a limited lifetime warranty covers defects.
We go deeper on the number itself in milestone birthday gift ideas for the 40th, 50th and 60th. For a husband, read what to get the husband who never asks. For your father, the dad who buys himself everything has a guide of his own.
Four statues for four kinds of birthday man
About 770 designs is a lot to scroll. Start with these four. Each begins at $199 in the 1 oz size, so pick the man first and the budget after.
For the 50th of the man who runs the room
The thunder-king strides forward mid-throw, a jagged bolt drawn back in one fist. It suits a man who still talks loudest at the table, and has earned it.
For the man who left Texas and never stopped mentioning it
A Longhorn planted square, horns sweeping wide, every muscle ridge sculpted. Put it on his desk three states away and it settles the question of where he’s really from.
For the 60th of the man who reads ancient history in bed
The lion-bodied guardian in its regal pharaonic headdress. Next to it, sixty looks young, which is a kind thing to hand a man on that birthday.
Our pick for a 50th is the Zeus, King of the Gods, because a big birthday is the one day a man gets to be king of everything. The Texas Longhorn Bull not quite him? The American Bison has the same massive shoulders and a lowered head. Poseidon, God of the Sea, trident raised over surging waves, is for the man who’d rather spend his birthday on a boat, and the Viking Warrior, raider of the northern seas, is for the man who still acts like one. And for the one who says every year that he doesn’t want anything, we wrote a guide for exactly that man.
Pick a size he’ll notice from across the room
Solid metal runs smaller than people picture. Silver is dense, so a lot of it fits into a short figure. Heights shift a little with the pose.
| Size | About how tall | Where it sits | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz | 1.5–2 in | Desk accent | $199 |
| 2 oz | 2–2.5 in | Small desk piece | $310 |
| 3 oz | 2.5–3 in | Desk piece | $450 |
| 5 oz | 3–3.5 in | Shelf piece | $750 |
| 8 oz | 3.5–4 in | Substantial shelf piece | $1,200 |
| 12 oz | 4–4.75 in | Centerpiece | $1,800 |
| 32 oz | 5.5–7 in | Large centerpiece | $4,800 |
There are ten sizes in all (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 32 oz), but not every design comes in every one. For a milestone we’d start at 3 oz: $450, close to three inches of metal, enough to look deliberate beside a keyboard. The 8 oz at $1,200 is what we’d choose for a 50th. And when his kids or his brothers go in together on a 60th, the 32 oz at $4,800 stands 5.5 to 7 inches tall — a large centerpiece that claims the middle of the mantel and keeps it.
Affirm and Klarna split the bigger sizes into installments. Major cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay work too.
A one-of-one for the big numbers
Some men are too specific for any catalog. The dog that sleeps under his desk. The truck he rebuilt. For those, there’s the custom silver statue: upload up to 4 photos and you get proofs in 5–7 business days. Nothing is cast until you approve it in writing.
Commissions start at $900 at 6 oz and run 6 to 32 oz as standard, with almost any other size, or solid gold, by quote. We cast it once. Then the design is retired forever, never recast and never resold, which makes it the one birthday gift nobody at the party can top. Not even us. Start a commission first. Proofs come before metal.
Count back eight weeks
Nothing here sits in a warehouse. An order kicks off eight hand-worked stages, from design and 3D printing through casting, refinishing, stamping and shipping, and the whole run takes 4–8 weeks. So if he turns 50 on November 20, eight weeks back is September 25.
We email at every stage, and a live Your Order Journey bar in your account shows where his statue is. It ships FedEx, fully insured, anywhere in the US including Alaska and Hawaii. An adult has to sign. For a surprise, ship it to your address, not his.
The honest part
Four to eight weeks is a real wait, and we’d rather say so here than in an email the week of his party. Every statue is poured and finished by hand after you order. If his birthday already falls inside that window, the gift card is the better gift: he opens it on the day, picks the design and size, and the workshop makes his statue after the candles are out.
Check the date and count back. Still room on the calendar? Then there’s still time for the real thing.
Still deciding? We also wrote about luxury gifts for men, Christmas gifts for men who have everything and silver gifts that aren't jewelry.
Count back from his birthday
If the date still works, pick his statue this week; if it doesn’t, give the gift card today.
